Tommy Crook

Bob Armstrong loaned me a cassette tape that was made on a boombox at one of Tommy's gigs.  I called Tommy and asked him if he cared if I put the tunes on the web and he said go right ahead.  I try to keep all the copyrighted material on sweetsouthernsounds.com where the rights are paid but we will try it this time, these are real old probably recorded around 1970.

To fully appreciate what Tommy's doing, you must realize his back-up is drums only. He is simultaneously playing the bass-line on the Big E and A strings tuned an octave lower than standard.  I understand that Chet on the Johnny Carson show once said something to the effect that Tommy was the best unknown guitarist he'd ever heard. - Bob Armstrong
